Learning Goal: Analyze literature for style and craft.
At the start of class, turn in your interpretive responses (see yesterday's post). Then, we returned to the textbook. On page 27, we read through the learning targets and definition of prologue, and reviewed the definitions of imagery, style, syntax, and diction.
Next, we read and annotated the prologue from Ralph Ellison's novel Invisible Man. Following this excerpt, are a few related activities. We discussed #3, then students completed #5--the quick write.
On page 29, students completed Language and Writer's Craft" chart. We'll finish the second part on the next page in class tomorrow.
For homework, students are assigned to complete a visual representation of their self-perception (Check Your Understanding, page 31). This is due at the start of tomorrow's class.
