On Wednesday, we finished reading and annotating "Monkey's Paw." For homework, students completed to funsheets--vocabulary builder and literary analysis of plot.
At the start of Thursday's class, I collected the homeowrk. Students worked individually or in pairs to write responses to the the five questions, "Thinking About the Selection." Then, we watched a funny Simpsons spoof of "The Monkey's Paw." For homework, students need to complete the short "Vocabulary Builder" assignment on page 43 of their story packet.
On Friday, students will take the reading quiz on the story, typical plot pattern (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action), and the three vocabulary words. After the quiz, we'll watch a film version of the short story.
